A place that attracted coco chanel, winston churchill and europe's royalty
In the late 19th century European royalty descended upon Roquebrune-Cap-Martin: Empress Eugénie de Montijo and Empress Elisabeth of Austria, known as Sissi, both called Cap Martin home. Coco Chanel fell so deeply in love with the area that she built her well known summer residence "Villa La Pausa" in 1928, where she entertained Pablo Picasso and Winston Churchill among her most celebrated guests, and where she was inspired to create her iconic perfume Chanel N°28. Churchill himself returned often where he wrote most of his "History of the English-Speaking Peoples". The same coastline that captivated the world's most extraordinary figures is now yours to discover.
